Fran's Book Shop
An irreverent, inclusive, Instagram-based conversation about books with writer, host and part-time bookseller
Francesca Beauman. All welcome. Open all hours.
ABOUT FRAN’S BOOK SHOP
The thing is, Fran’s Book Shop isn’t actually a book shop. That is – I’m not trying to sell you anything. I know, confusing, right? But my name is Fran (Francesca Beauman, if we’re feeling grand) and I do work part-time in a book shop (Persephone Books, if we’re feeling precise).
So, what is Fran’s Book Shop? Well, it’s an irreverent, inclusive, Instagram-based conversation about books.
Content includes book reviews, interviews with authors, chats with customers, visits to literary festivals and other bookshops, as well as some of the everyday dramas of running a real bookshop. I also venture out on to the streets to ask passers-by my favourite question, “What Are You Reading?"
The book shop where I work, Persephone Books, was started by my mum, Nicola, when her youngest child left home.
There was recently a lovely article about it in the New York Times. It’s on Lamb’s Conduit Street in the Bloomsbury area of London.
Fran’s Book Shop is books as they are in the real world: discussed with passion and humor in an accessible, friendly way. For more, watch the first episode of Fran’s Book Shop here:
